Campus Experience and Security Officer (Days) 

Salary range: £31,820

Location: Bloomsbury, Central London WC1E

Shift pattern: This is a 35-hour per week contract. 5 shifts across 7 days, including weekends. The shift pattern operates between 07:00 and 23:00, with alternating AM and PM shifts. Typical shift times include 08:00-15:30 and 15:30-23:00, or 07:00-14:30 and 14:30-22:00. There are also opportunities for compressed shift patterns, subject to operational requirements. As such, flexibility is essential for the role.

As a Campus Experience and Security Officer (Day), you will be a visible and approachable presence across campus, providing a professional concierge-style service to students, staff, visitors and contractors. You will be the first point of contact for enquiries, delivering reception operations, visitor management, ID card and pass issuance, access control and a range of administrative processes.

 

You will also help maintain a safe and secure campus through regular patrols, monitoring security systems, responding to incidents and supporting emergency procedures. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will play an important role in delivering a positive, inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone who uses our facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills across customer service, security operations, safeguarding, emergency response, access control and campus support.

 

 

About You

 

  • Demonstrable experience in a customer-facing security, safety or front-of-house role.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy environment.
  • Experience responding to incidents and following established procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of people.
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications and electronic security systems.
  • The ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
  • A current SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV licence, or the willingness to obtain and maintain the required licence.

Grade 4 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £31,234 rising to £34,827 per annum.

 

Contract:

This is a 35 hours contract. 5 shifts across 7 days, including weekends. Shifts operate on a rotating basis between morning and evening patterns, covering core service hours between 07:00 and 23:00.

Appointment / confirmation in the role will be subjects of completion of SIA licence training, including DBS check.
